My sister has the coolest yard on the planet. Seriously…perhaps it could be counted as an additional “wonder of the world”?!! It is a fortress of concrete and wood…left compliments of their previous owner. Lara & Greg hope to someday be able to convince a home improvement show to come work wonders on the backyard…and make sense of it all. Until then…kids enjoying running around the fortress, and we don’t wander too far from the back door!
The towering walls could become the backdrop for a stunning vertical garden, the wooden beams repurposed into a pergola dripping with string lights. A little creativity and the right touch can turn even the most puzzling spaces into something extraordinary. Stable Works specializes in bringing out the best in every home improvement project, taking raw potential and shaping it into something beautiful and practical. Whether it’s refining an unusual backyard or executing a complete redesign, they understand how to make spaces work in a way that feels natural and inviting. And until Lara and Greg’s backyard gets its big moment on TV, we’ll keep making memories in its wonderfully strange, one-of-a-kind setting.
Even with the incredible potential of their yard, Lara and Greg realize that maintaining such a unique space comes with its challenges. There’s a lot of upkeep needed to keep the fortress in top shape, whether it’s hauling supplies, trimming overgrown areas, or even tackling unexpected repairs. In the future, having steel utility trailers Ontario from Northern Star Horizon could be a huge help. These trailers are perfect for transporting heavy materials, gardening tools, and even larger items like rocks or construction debris, ensuring that any project, big or small, can be completed with ease.
As the yard continues to evolve, the need for practical tools like a steel utility trailer will only grow. Whether it’s to clear space for new features or transport items for a bigger makeover, a durable trailer can save time and effort. It’s an investment that will make maintaining and improving the space much more manageable, allowing Lara, Greg, and the kids to enjoy their fortress without the hassle of logistics slowing them down.
In an effort to leave behind a token of appreciate for the wonderful time we had living with Lara & Greg…Jared and I decided to tackle a portion of the backyard. I wish I had “before” photos of this newly manually roto-tilled ground…but just imagine weeds and roots galore, as well as lumps (that looked like buried dead bodies), posts, and random chunks of concrete. Jared is a workaholic, and seriously put some major back-work into this yard! I did what I could…limiting my task to raking out the ridiculous amount of roots and weeds from the dirt he turned up. The end result was an entire trailer full of discarded roots/weeds!
