Low and behold, it turns out that Germany is REALLY into their flohmarkts (fleamarkets)! If you do a search online for flohmarkts, you’ll discover they are in just about every area of the city–every Saturday and often on Sundays, too!
We were lucky that the twice-a-year Schanze Festival happened to be the weekend we were in town. So, it was half flohmarkt, and half…well…street party!
Besides finding some garage-sale like finds for Ethan (who was in need of a pair of pants and some little matchbox cars to replace the ones we accidentally left behind in Mexico), we found plenty of street food, as well!
The Turkish stands were especially appealing! I had no idea what any of this food was…but it looked amazing!
Jared got a hot dog smothered in who-knows-what. Despite it be being (intentionally) cold, he liked it!
Ella found a fresh bagel smothered in sesame seeds…
Jared and I enjoyed a teigtasche, a fresh tortilla stuffed with spinach and…umm…cheese? I don’t know what it was!
But it was goooooooood!
I also found vegan doners for sale! VEGAN!! I love this place!
The meat was replaced with seitan, and it was alright. Overall, I really just prefer veggies!
When’s the last time you saw a wall of these boomboxes?!
Gotta love the flohmarkts! It’s like a garage sale on steroids!!
And anyone who knows me knows I loooove garage sales!
