We started heading up North, on our way to Veracruz. Houses immediately changed to Caribbean colors!
A large load on the highway…
Tlacotalpan, Mexico is a beautiful retreat that earned a spot as a Unesco World Heritage site in 1998. It was a booming port town in the 19th century, but when we arrived it seemed nearly like a ghost town.
Ice creams flavors: Coconut, Lime, Vanilla, Mamey, Mango, and Guanabana
The girls got out some energy, running and playing tag in the plaza while Jared and I took photos and slowly meandered around.
The crafts being sold in this town were quiet different than anything else we had seen. I thought these little Tlacotalpan key-holder mini-houses were quite cute, and very representative of the town 🙂
Everything was so clean, orderly, and well-painted. They obviously take a lot of pride in their city central!
The chapels here were so different from the old stone ones we’ve seen in many other parts of Mexico!
Even the inside of the chapel was painted brightly, just like the cool pastel colors on the outside!
After taking a quick stroll through town, we were back in the van and on our way. On the drive out of town, we immediately saw house after house that obviously battle with the rising water that varies depending on the dry or wet season.
Such a sharp contrast to the city centro we had just left!
