In Oct 2012, we took a leisurely stroll through Thun, Switzerland. It’s a very picturesque town on the northern end of Lake Thun (30 minutes south of Bern). It is an old city, and boasts not only some original medieval streets, but also a medieval castle overlooking the city! I’ll let the photos do the talking:
We’re suckers for covered bridges, and Thun had a very beautiful one!!
We considered whether or not we should leave the girls behind…
An impromptu photo session helped break up the walking…
The castle is peaking over the top left of the photo below:
I wish I knew the story of this sunken boat sculpture, but I can only guess!
Medieval castle can again be seen just to the left of the tallest tower:
Maiya forgot how to walk. Again.
We happened upon an open-air market with many vendors, including vendors selling some second-hand clothes. Since it was cooling down more and more, we let Ella pick out a sweatshirt.
I was tempted to purchase some musical instruments for my parents (both musicians), but since we were on a long-haul trip, souvenirs like this weren’t a luxury we could carry.
We admired the detail of various buildings and signs:
Ella wore the crown:
I loved this fire department vehicle:
I would definitely recommend a stroll through Thun! Is there anywhere in Switzerland that isn’t GORGEOUS?! Hm…I think not!
